Resort-Style Pool Patio Transformation
This Short Hills family transformed their backyard from a neglected pool area with cracked concrete into a private resort destination. With three active teenagers, they wanted a space that would keep the family home rather than seeking entertainment elsewhere. We designed an expansive entertainment zone using premium travertine pavers in a French pattern. The tumbled finish provides excellent slip resistance while maintaining an elegant Mediterranean aesthetic. The pool coping features a bullnose profile in complementary Silver travertine, creating visual depth and a comfortable edge for swimmers. The project extended beyond the pool deck to include a covered outdoor kitchen area with matching travertine flooring, a fire pit lounge with built-in seating, and a putting green transition zone. LED landscape lighting showcases the stonework at night, creating different ambiances from family BBQs to intimate evening gatherings. The 8-week project has transformed how the family—and their many guests—experience outdoor living.
