Grand Foyer Marble Medallion
When the owners of this Alpine estate wanted to make a lasting first impression, they envisioned a custom marble floor medallion that would rival European palaces. The 12-foot diameter design anchors a two-story foyer beneath a Murano glass chandelier. Our design team collaborated with Italian artisans to create a waterjet-cut masterpiece featuring Calacatta Viola, Nero Marquina, and Honey Onyx marbles. The intricate compass rose pattern includes over 2,000 individual pieces, each precision-cut to tolerances of 1/32 inch. Gold brass inlay borders accent the design, adding warmth and reflecting the chandelier light. Installation required a team of four master craftsmen working over three weeks, carefully fitting each piece and ensuring perfect alignment. The surrounding floor features 24x24 Calacatta slabs laid in a classic running bond pattern. The result is a floor that stops guests in their tracks—a true statement of craftsmanship that will be admired for generations.
