About
About this project
This Weehawken condo had a rarely-used builder-grade tub that consumed valuable bathroom real estate. The young professional owners wanted a dramatic walk-in shower that would make their morning routine feel luxurious while maximizing the compact space. We removed the tub and expanded the shower footprint to 4x6 feet—large enough to feel spacious without a door. The curbless entry with a linear drain creates a seamless flow from the bathroom floor into the shower. Large-format 24x48 inch porcelain tiles in a concrete-look finish minimize grout lines and create a contemporary industrial aesthetic. The frameless glass panel (fixed, no door needed) keeps water contained while maintaining an open feel. A recessed shampoo niche with LED lighting, rainfall showerhead, and handheld on a slide bar provide functionality. The heated floor extends into the shower for year-round comfort. The 3-week transformation proves that giving up a tub can mean gaining a spa.
